There are foods that promote gas formation in the tummy. Here are the foods to avoid to prevent baby colic.
The terms "colic-colic" indicate the status a baby is in: that he cries often, intensely, and is difficult or impossible to coax. Pediatric experts disagree neither on the definition of colic-colic, nor on the use of the term. Colic is identified with the rule of three: crying, persistent for three hours a day, roughly three times a week and for at least three weeks.
 How long do newborn colic last?
The disconsolate crying usually begins in the second week of life and continues until the end of the second month and ends after three months. For some children it is the air that hurts: they tend to stretch their arms and stiffen their legs, then bend their arms and legs over the body, abdomen, the stomach is swollen, tense, hard to touch.
 Colic in the newborn, how to recognize them?
 A sudden cry without an apparent trigger;
 · The newborn begins to be restless
 He becomes pale, clenches his fists, flexes his legs on the abdomen;
 You try to breastfeed or give him a pacifier and he does not find consalation :
 · Between one crisis and the next he can calm down, fall asleep, emit a flare that gives him relief.
 · Usually (but this is not a rule) these sudden crying fits occur in the evening for bottle-fed babies. While for breastfed babies it can occur at any time of the day
 The causes of colic are not known. Many studies and research believe that babies with colic do not have any specific diseases, therefore they are simply an extreme manifestation of crying during the first months of life. Furthermore, while some agree that excessive crying is a sign of health and vigor, others are convinced that there is more than one contributing factor to colic:
 · Example the maternal smoking
 Greater development of the brain rather than the digestive system,
 That the organic causes are less than 5%,
 That there is no evidence to support possible psychological causes, such as that the parents do not care about the child,
 · Foods are sometimes targeted that the mother eats, in case the baby is breastfed,
 · At other times, if the baby is weaned, he may show intolerances and / or allergies towards some foods consumed.
 Remedies for colic of newborn breast milk
 A change in diet during breastfeeding may therefore be necessary, if you stop the consumption of dairy products or any other food that can cause colic, you must wait at least ten days before the effect on the baby can be assessed. However, many pediatricians are of the opinion that some foods, such as garlic, onions, cabbage or spicy dishes, can be problematic for babies, arguing that it is rare for a baby to react to a food that the mother ate during pregnancy or eat when breastfeeding.
 In the first year of life, in most cases, the food that usually gives problems, but only for 5%, is cow's milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, soy and fish. If the baby seems to react with colic or malaise to a food that the mother eats, it is advisable to give up this food for a period and evaluate the baby's eventual reaction.
 Newborn colic foods to avoid
 Caffeine passes quickly into breast milk, so don't drink more than two cups a day of tea, coffee, hot chocolate or soft drinks like cola, while herbal teas and decaffeinated drinks are no problem. Certainly yes to fruit tea, mint, raspberry, lime, ginger, hibiscus tea or karkade.
 · Energy drinks should be avoided because they contain substances that may prove unsuitable for the baby, as well as the consumption of canned tuna (300 g per week, because it may contain more mercury than fresh tuna, for which there is no limitation of intake. you should eat shark fish, swordfish, shellfish in general, trout, caviar and fish liver more than once a month as these foods absorb more pollutants than others, especially mercury.
 Medicines can also be found in small quantities in breast milk and if some are compatible with breastfeeding, others, and even natural products, can have adverse effects on the baby and / or affect milk production. For this reason, it is best to always consult your pediatrician before taking any medication.
 Alcohol passes through milk and each glass of alcohol takes two to three hours to be removed from breast milk. Removal time varies according to weight. The American Academy of Pediatrics, however, states that alcohol consumption is compatible with breastfeeding. Indeed, alcohol consumed occasionally or regularly in small amounts does not appear to be harmful to the breastfed baby, while systematic alcohol abuse can slow the baby's weight gain and hinder his development. Alcohol consumed in large quantities can also inhibit the ejection reflex in some mothers.
 · You should avoid smoking cigarettes or breastfeeding immediately before smoking, because nicotine passes into breast milk and alters its production. The baby may become irritable, cry, and experience insomnia due to nicotine .
 It has been found that if mothers take herbal teas containing chamomile, verbena, licorice, fennel and lemon extract three times a day (150 ml per dose), the crying of babies is reduced. Since herbal teas do not come in standard doses or formulas, it is advisable to consult a doctor before attempting this strategy; by doing so, the child reduces crying;
