How to choose a children's coat in winter.

Come scegliere il cappotto per bambini in inverno.

How to choose a children's coat in winter.

Winter is coming and children have to be protected from the cold, so it is right to choose coats carefully, since it is one of the garments that parents must carefully choose, considering the quality of the materials, comfort and wearability.

The types.

To choose it, it is good to evaluate some characteristics before purchasing. In fact, depending on the temperature, more or less rigid due to the autumn and winter months and the use of the garment itself, you can choose between:
• wool coat : ideal for the winter season and low temperatures;
duvet : it is great for days on the snow, but also comfortable and practical at school and kindergarten because it allows freedom of movement.
duffle coat : casual but also elegant, suitable for both autumn and winter temperatures (depending on the type of internal padding);
• padded raincoat: perfect for rainy days;
more elegant coats : to wear for important occasions;
knitted coat : ideal in autumn before winter arrives.

How to choose it

For the choice of the coat it is important to consider above all the practicality of the garment, and the comfort to allow the child to be free in movements, also evaluating:
• the fabric which must be of high quality and made up of pure, soft and breathable fabrics. Wool is one of those most suitable fabrics because it is soft and, with its softness, it adapts to the movements of the little ones. A fabric to consider as an alternative is smooth or ribbed velvet. Perfect for winter;
• closure: which must be done in a practical way for both the mother and the child. The zip closure is preferable, or the one with buttons. Alternatively also the closure with frogs, typical of the duffle coat, which today are affixed on top only as a decoration and hide a zip;
• the color: it is preferable to always opt for neutral colors tending to dark, to avoid that they remain stained. Furthermore, the neutral colors are easily matched and resistant to washing without the fear of fading over time;
• the size: it is a good habit to always consider one size larger than the one the child wears. The coat should be worn over other heavy and bulky clothing such as, for example, sweaters.
